PLANT MOM Free to Download on Amazon…TOMORROW ONLY! 3/19

Last week I published my most recent short story “Plant Mom” on Amazon. It’s part of an anthology of short stories I’ve been writing since last June. All the stories take place in New York City and they’re all a bit weird, but that’s pretty much it as far as the similarities go.

So, back to “Plant Mom.” This is just one of the ten stories I’ve written over the past year. It’s not necessarily my favorite, but it’s strange and I figured might as well get it out there and see what the masses think of it (and by “the masses,” I mean my dad, his two gym buddies, and a couple of Holli’s friends).

The story is about a young woman who has just broken up with her boyfriend. She’s lamenting about it to her friend over brunch. The friend recommends that, to fill the void, she should get a plant. So she takes her to a plant nursery hidden deep in New York’s Chinatown. The young woman walks out holding a breath-taking specimen that’s equally beautiful as it is sinister… but the relationship proves to be more than she ever could’ve bargained for…

Some background information: I published “Plant Mom” on Amazon through their Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) platform. It doesn’t cost anything to publish on KDP and you’re not even bound exclusively to Amazon’s Kindle Store. However, I enrolled my short story in Amazon’s Kindle Select program, which means I can’t republish it anywhere else (besides Amazon) for 90 days! It also means it’s free for Kindle Unlimited subscribers (woot woot), but not for regular folks (frown).

Except tomorrow! That’s right…tomorrow 3/19/2024 you can download “Plant Mom” for free. Click the link right here to go to the page. It’s my first go at KDP so I’ll get better I promise. Any feedback, commentary, criticism, or even just an onomatopoeic fart noise would be greatly appreciated. Love you all and thanks for all the support.
