Michael Serrur

I’m a writer living in New York City, directing anyone who will listen to the best bowl of pho, the mightiest mapo tofu, and the most outlandish offering of unlimited sushi. I have a master’s degree in food systems from New York University, focusing mostly on the public’s perception of popular/controversial topics related to the food industry. I studied everything from Banana Republics (not the retailer selling ill-fitting khakis) and the history of lox to Japanese school lunch and mealworm farms. During my time at NYU, I worked with a start-up sorbet company, a home-soup delivery business, and as the Healthy Eating Editor for TheDailyMeal.com. I’m now a food writer at GNT USA, Inc., the world’s leading supplier of food coloring made from fruits, vegetables, and plants.

This is a portfolio of articles, essays, and reviews. Most of the content is focused on food, but many of my new pieces will explore other topics related to the hedonistic and the taboo. That being said, I approach all my written work with the same degree of tact and research that I would any other academic article (with maybe a spattering of profanity for flavor). Please enjoy and share with your friends!
