“I am SOO tired of Earl,” Mindy grumbled.

Tina peeked around the wall of her cubicle and leaned her head forward. “Why? What did he do now?”

Mindy casually glanced over her shoulder. A couple of colleagues had stood up and were heading to the elevator. Not Earl, though. He stayed seated.

“He’s always staring at us all googly-eyed like he’s never seen a woman before.”

Tina grabbed one of her pale blonde locks and wrapped it around her finger. “Aw, come on. He’s not that bad.”

Mindy snorted. “The guy’s been sitting behind us for almost three months and barely said anything besides a ‘howdy do.’ Where do they find these guys? Mars?”

“I don’t know,” Tina said, shifting around in her office chair. “I find him sweet. Is it so wrong for a guy to smile? Or do you prefer Murphy, who can’t say a sentence without referencing his pecker?”

“At least I know what to expect with Murphy,” Mindy whispered back. “Don’t you notice that every time Earl walks by us, he gives one of those suspicious little smirks. And remember that time he offered to buy us breakfast?”

The office’s central air conditioning unit rumbled to life. Tina grabbed the blanket hanging from the back of her chair and hugged it around her shoulders. “Yeah. What was wrong with that?”

“He came back with giant burritos!”

“They were breakfast burritos…and they were delicious!” Tina huffed.

“The guy creeps me out…that’s all I’m saying. Like if you’re into me, just be upfront about it.”

Tina raised her brows. “Oh. So you think he’s into you?”

“Men are simple,” Mindy replied. “And obvious.”

Tina just shrugged.

“What?” Mindy scoffed. “You disagree?”

“I didn’t say that.”

“So what is it then?”

“Well, maybe he’s not into you.”

“Oh?”

“Maybe he’s into me. At least, I hope he is…tonight’s our third date.”
